Cecilia Battaini is an artist, illustrator and surface designer based in Milan, Italy. She calls herself a flower in the midst of flowers because they are the main subject of her patterns and illustrations. Her art is the expression of her inner garden and both works on commissions and licenses her flowers to many brands. Inspired by the flora she meets during her travels or while walking through her city, Milan, she draws by hand with colored pencils flowers and plants, then scans them on her laptop and through Photoshop arrange them into patterns. While she is a self-taught illustrator, she learnt how to creates patterns while studying fashion design and specializing in textile & surface design. Today she makes and sells paintings made with fabrics featuring her flowers, as well as calendars and art prints, which exhibits inside art galleries, during public events and art markets. But she also enjoys working on commission and licensing patterns and illustrations to many different brands, from wallpapers to home decor, from stationery to fabrics.
